So I have my set up. My main cage and another cage. My breeding cage will be next to my main cage. I'm going to transfer one pair and attach one nest box to the breeding cage. I'm going to order some hand rearing formula just in case there's an emergency. I'm also getting a crop needle in case the hen gets egg bound. In the cage there will also be a mineral block and cuttlebone. I'm going to line the bottom of the nest box with shavings. Am I missing anything out? I've never bred before so some guidance would be really appreciated. Do you recommend dummy eggs? This is the crop needle I'm going to get: www.mah-shop.co.uk/individual-gavage-crop-tubes---prices-from-1005-54-p.aspWhat size syringe do I need to buy to fit it? I'm hoping it won't be needed, but if something does go wrong then I want to be prepared. Thank you.

It pays to buy a syringe with the crop tube as they are then compatable , take the tube to a chemist and they will supply you a small one

Breeding cages and flight cages, the whole setup I mean. Cage to the right is my main one. The one to the left is going to be my breeding cage where I'm going to attach a nestbox to one of the open door feeders. I really am struggling for money. I don't want to spend money on stuff I don't need, but a crop needle and hand rearing food seems a must.

I can only see the crop needle: www.mah-shop.co.uk/individual-gavage-crop-tubes---prices-from-1005-54-p.aspSays 14g, but everywhere else I've seen say 16g. Barrie is hand rearing food just egg food? I have some of that. Bought a 500g bag of Quicko from Pets At Home for £5. Mine won't touch emp. The lady in the shop said that you feed the adult budgies the egg food and they give it to the babies? I thought the adults just feed the babies seed. Do you not give them seed then? If my budgies won't eat the egg food then how will the chicks get fed? Sorry for my thickness. Never tried to breed before, but really want to.

I'm presuming, touch would it never happens, that if the adults don't feed the chicks then I need to do it with egg food. Is that right?
Also, do you recommend dummy eggs?
thanks.

if the adults dont feed the chicks you will need rearing food this will have everything a young chick will need,i use the eggfood when the chicks hatch i offer this wet in finger drawers or if you havnt any finger drawers you could use a small dish,i give this twice aday as well as soft food and seed,to be honest in 2 yrs this has only happened twice. personaly i have never had to use dummy eggs but i know that some people do
