so a little background. I’ve owned budgies for about 6 years now and recently got a pair of budgies that I am planning on using for breeding. I got them from a good breeder where I’m from who is small scale and really cares about their birds. The two are absolutely not related. My birds are still young so I won’t be breeding until February if 2020. I have a cage set up for them to get bonded so when they’re ready to breed it will be a breeze. As far as diet goes I’ve seen that some people give their birds eggs when it gets to breeding time. Is this a good idea? I’ve done tons of research before deciding to breed my birds and if something goes wrong along the way I will not be breeding them.

Egg provides a lot of protein as well as other vitamins and minerals, but your hen will also need a calcium supplement, possibly obtained from the egg shells themselves. Boiled egg shells, remove membrane and grind up finely and add to the food.
