My budgies won't touch it. I mix it with a little water, tried seed on top. They just pick at it.

I want to breed one of my pairs.
What else will they get fed if the parents don't take the egg food?

I want to breed one of my pairs. What else will they get fed if the parents don't take the egg food? Make your own Thomas, 3 slices whole meal bread half hard boiled egg, put it in a blender and serve, you can freeze it, add stuff to it, like grated carrot, etc, mine have done well on this.........

OK, thanks Brian, will try this. I just wanted to know if I'd get by without it though. It's all very daunting for me as I've never tried to breed budgies before. I'm panicking a lot.

Once a pair start feeding chicks they will be looking for extra food and they will generally eat egg food readily

Nev is right, I have experienced that too. Anyhow liquid calcium is more important during laying.

You can also try hard boiled eggs crushed with shell. Some of mine prefer it over commercial egg food

Marianne has put up a great fresh egg food recipe that you may want to look at. Some birds don't take to the commercial stuff.
