When at the vet on Wednesday (14th) she weighed Ben, he was 59g. The vet asked me to weigh him on the Friday that same week, I did, and he was 60g. She said if he fluctuates between 55/59g that is a good weight for his size.
But, I weighed him this morning and he's 57g, which means he's lost 3g since friday.....should I be worried, even though he's within the vets guidelines?
He seems really bright, and chirping, and flying about.

I'd only be concerned if there was a continued decline. But if he goes down by three and then slowly up then I wouldn't worry.
But you can always phone the vet to ask.
55-60 is a good weight, if he a big bird (showbird?)

I'm back at the vet again Thursday morning 10am for another check up Marianne. I'll see what he is then when she weighs him. Thanks for your help.

I would only worry if there is a continuous decline, as Marianne has said, JB. I weigh mine every week at the same time of the day pretty much and there can be around a five gram difference between weeks, for no apparent reason. Also, remember different scales will give different weights as well, so your weights won't be the same, necessarily, as the vets. It can depend on where on the scales they stand as well, and how they stand, if that makes any sense. I read something about this not long ago, how animal scales are made to adjust to natural movement and give you an average weight for the time the animal was on them, rather than jumping all over the place like our basic kitchen scales do.

Went back to the vet with Ben this morning for a check-up She took another poop sample and said it was almost back to normal.
She weighed him and he was 53g. This was 10.15am when we got seen and he hadn't eaten anything all morning, he seldom eats in the morning until he's been let out, and had a fly about, which he didn't get this morning.
She told me to keep an eye on his weight and to weigh him twice a week.
He's to stop taking the Marbocyl, but continue with the avipro plus. He refused to drink it in his water which baffled her because she said she'd tried it herself and there is no taste off it, obviously Ben thought otherwise, so he's to have it sprinkled on fresh food instead.
He's pooping better now and I've seldom seen him scratch his bum. Lets hope that's the last I see of the vet for a long time.

Onwards and upwards from now on, Ben. That sounds all very positive, JB. What a relief for you. xx

Keeping everything crossed for him jellybean to continue to improve - they are SUCH a contstant worry these birds! Perhaps vets should have a sideline venture, give meds out as well when you treat your pets to keep us calm throughout the process too!!!
