Hi can anyone help me please? My budgie is only a few months old and I've noticed when he's eating he has a large red bald patch on him bottom. He is also very sleepy.Thank you.

Someone will be along to help you soon. Would it be possible to put a picture of the affected area, it would really help them....

Hello and welcome buddyboy. I haven't got a lot of experience with this and as ladybird said, somebody will be on here soon to hopefully advise very soon. You've come to the right place for help, many of us are in various parts of the world, it would also be helpful to know where you are (not the address of course) but we can advise what medications would be available to you, or even vets near to you if you are in the U.K. BUT in my limited experience I have noticed when visiting my breeder that baby budgies do sometimes have a problem keeping their butt clean. It may be that he has pulled feathers out whilst cleaning. If you can rub some Savlon, Sudacrem or even Vaseline on it for him as it looks red, this may relieve any discomfort. You say he is sleepy, we would really need more information: is he eating and drinking normally, did you get him from a breeder, how long have you had him, has he been sleepy all the time you've had him, is he constipated at all? And as ladybird has said a picture of his rear end would be helpful.

What are his droppings like? Normal, or runny, or green?

What are his droppings like? Normal, or runny, or green? Was about to pose the same question. How long have you had the bird? Do you have the same food that he was eating before he came to you? A new diet on a new digestive system can cause an upset. Savlon is the best of the three options given, just a very small amount.
