Here we are, had to go off and do something else for a bit. Here is the shy little chap. At present I am calling him Buddy as I haven't decided on a 'suitable to his character' name yet. He's not actually the one I originally picked out, the same budgie was sitting in the same place both days, but as soon as the guy went in of course they all flew all over the place, and when they are ALL green it's a bit of a problem to pick each individual out, he tried to get the one I wanted, but Buddy is ok. He's green and he's male, so that is all I needed (for now!!)

Aw thank you Marianne for making his picture larger. I think perhaps I am being a little impatient, this is only day one after all, but he hasn't moved from the highest perch. He had a few seeds to eat yesterday, he has a small piece of millet pegged up but hasn't touched it. Not sure about the drinking, but we don't normally see new buddies drink do we? He has sung a bit, but he can't hear my other birdies much. I just want to know that he is ok. He does blink when I blink and talk to him. So, must wait I suppose. I did tell him that he is probably going to be the loudest naughtiest budgie going, but we shall have to wait and see.

We worry ourselves silly Shirls, he is probably just getting his bearings, and sussing out his new home. Is it possible to move his cage so that he can maybe hear the others, might be a little more comforting for him.

At the moment Buddy is in the conservatory while it's not too hot, I had to fetch him out when it warmed up this morning as it does get a bit warm sometimes, not so much lately though. Because of the lack of doors in my house, I have to be carefull as the others are out all day and there is only one door between them and the conservatory and the outside when the outer door is open.
Anyway, I am pleased to say that Buddy has been charging all around his cage this afternoon shouting, mainly shouting at the birds outside (the outside door was open) and he is fascinated watching the chickens walk around. So, I think he is getting a little used to the new routine. He still hasn't eaten hardly anything, I'm hoping that will change by tonight.

It seems that he is settling in nicely and finding his voice. Only a few more weeks before he meets his new friends.

Buddy has really found his voice now it's so loud and it carries from the conservatory, through the kitchen, the lounge and through to the other budgies, who take no notice whatsoever!!! Thanks for asking jellybean. At the moment, Buddy has stuck, so unless he turns out to be really unusual in some way, Buddy may stay his permanent name. I am pleased to say he has eaten quite a bit of seed, don't know about drinking, but his poops are fine now. He has Guardian Angel in his water.
