I let Kiwi out in my room everyday. He flies around and looks in the mirror and enjoys himself. I have 3 fish tanks. Well today Kiwi was flying around and he went to land on the rim of the fish tank. He missed the fish tank and dipped into the fish tank Ahhh! Well the water is warm and my room is warm and dry without a draft. So I think he will be fine right?

I'm jst glad that Kiwi is alright. A lesson learnt there. Budgies can't swim and they don't float like ducks. Netting or something springs to mind. As budgies do like a bath. Glad He's alright.

The thing is if he does get used to the idea then he could decide to try a bath. All the budgiesn I have had test the water in the bath before jumping in, even with basil leaves and the like. Once they have got used to the idea they just jump in. I did see a budgie drown on a documentary about the wild budgies in a place called Australia. Not nice to watch.

@op I am going to try to keep him away from the tanks. If and when he wants to bathe it will be in a shallow dish with warm water. NOT a fish tank

Sorry, but I had to laugh TheTenthDoctor, not realising how it could have turned out. Is there any way you can put a net over the tanks to prevent any mishaps in the future?

You could always leave a rod and fishing tackle for him on the side of the tank.
