Thank you Rachael. I do really love Charlie. But there is really no way I could get a bigger cage. Charlies cage at the moment stays on top of a display unit. He has to stay there because of the cat. I couldn't have him any lower. He's safe there. I would be really happy for Charlie to live with Mariannes budgies. Not only would Charlie have a better home. He'd also have other birds for company. I'm sure he would really be happy living with other budgies. This all depends on what part of London Marianne lives. Fingers crossed it's not too far from me.

Just in defence of the vet, I don't know what or how he told Sue, and maybe he could have spoken more sensitively. But I feel that vets have a responsibility to speak out for the welfare as well as the health of the animals they see. That's a good thing for them to do.
Sometimes pet owners just don't realise what they are doing is not in the best interests of their pets, and that there are simple things that could make their lives better.
To be told your pet doesn't have a good quality of life may be a shock, and may seem that your getting a telling off. But if it results in a better outcome for the animal, I'm all for it.
I'm really glad Sue came here to ask for advice as a result. She obviously doesn't want to be the cause of her budgie's unhappiness.

Well, it has all been resolved, except for Sue's humilation at the hands of the vet, which I think we are all disgusted with. There are ways and there are ways of delivering bad news and that is not the way to go. Charlie will definitely have more than enough company at Marianne's but I feel so sorry that you aren't able to enjoy Charlie any longer. Personally, I would get rid of the cat, but I couldn't be without my birds now, and I know not everyone feels that way. Sorry for you Sue.

I hope they are happy, I do my best to make them so. I'm really glad Sue came here to ask for advice as a result. She obviously doesn't want to be the cause of her budgie's unhappiness. I am glad too Stace, it shows that Sue cares about the welfare of her bird a great deal. hi Marianne. you are a star.......charlie will be over the moon living with you..... and your budgies I'm no star. I just really love budgies and want to make the little critters happy I do hope that Charlie will enjoy it here. Blueboy really could do with a friend. On the plus side, Charlie is blue too Now we'll all get to share Charlie's new adventure on the forum.
Yes indeed! Well, it has all been resolved, except for Sue's humilation at the hands of the vet, which I think we are all disgusted with. ] There really was no need for the vet to be so blunt. It's possible to give good advice without making someone feel bad.

Thank you all so much for the help you've all given me. I am so glad I found you. I am sad to see Charlie go. But his happiness comes first. Charlie is a lucky boy. But I am very lucky too. I get to see how Charlies doing. I have a great deal to thank Marianne for. I feel much happier than I did this time yesterday. And as a nice note, the poster on the other forum that called me cruel came back to say sorry and gave me a "big up" for putting Charlies needs before mine. Now I'm going to be budgieless, I hope you don't mind if I stick around. Sue
