When do you let you babies go to a new home? Do you hold out the full 42 days or just till you no that the babies are cracking seed for themselves?

I never give them over until i'm sure they are capable of cracking their own seed, drinking for themselves and have stopped begging the parents. You'll see them preen thoroughly, adhere to the pecking order and be disciplined by each other. I won't let them go if they don't seem to "understand" how to react to another bird quite yet, or if they seem confused as to where the water or food is kept. I always makes sure also they are familiar with greens. These signs are usually visible between 5 and 8 weeks. Mine can be fast movers, so I get people viewing within the 4th to 5th week and then when I'm sure they are ready, any that are held are paid for and taken once I've seen all the above things in place

Once they are fully weaned, I wait for 2 weeks and then they go to new homes.
