Never did so but I know that it have worked for a few people but mostly the hen will abandon the eggs. The only option is to move the breeding cage while hen is inside the nest box. You may have to close the entry hole in a way that the hen can't come out but still there is some light in the nest box.

I also have a similar predicament, will be buying an aviary which will fit in the back of a van, but the problem is I will be moving it about 5km from the sellers house to my house, the budgies in the aviary are sitting on eggs and some even have chicks, so was wondering if I transport the aviary without taking out the birds or nestboxes to my house, will the birds sit on the eggs and feed the chicks
Thanks Lushen

I had to do this a few months ago with two pair, it was a whole breeding cabinet so it was a rough ride for them, they went on to raise their eggs and chicks.

i had to move my breeding cages last year i plugged the access hole in the nest boxes with the hen still in there obviously then gently moved them the move was a success all birds went on to hatch and raise their chicks, i think slowly and gently is the secret , i also believe that when i plugged the holes it excluded the light and i think this has a calming effect, any way best of luck with the move let us know how you get on

Yes it works this way if the ride is not bumpy. I haven't done so but I have been told before that it only works if the hens are in the nest box, unable to come out, still with some light. Glad it worked for you
