Today I made my first attempt at birdie bread! They nibbled at a piece, but mostly picked the seeds off the outside. Hopefully they eat more of it after a few tries. (Made with their chop, some egg, whole wheat flour, powdered up pellets, and rolled in seed mix) $26 worth of groceries for the birds.. massive chop prep (tried collard greens, zucchini, riced cauliflower, sweet potato, a little chopped peanut this time -- filled two ice cube trays for storage, mixed the other half into the bread), a loaf of bread, a tray of "donuts" to hang on their kabob... and I fed myself one frozen microwave meal. Also Citrine sat on my shoulder and sung in my ear for like two minutes! <3 <3

Sounds like you made a feast! What was your micro-meal?

lol I had a jimmy dean's sausage and egg breakfast bowl
The leaves on the collared greens were so big.. I put a stalk on their play gym for them to chew, and Citrine accidentally slid down it like a slide and ended up rolling around on his back like a flailing turtle.

When I read about what people are feeding their birds it does occur to me that our birds are eating a whole healthier than we are!

I spend about an hour each day picking grass for my guys; I have intimate knowledge of which grasses grow best where, and I have met more of the greater neighbourhood this way than even walking the dog. I can assure you I spend (on average) nothing like that long on my own dinner.

It's the same with Eve. I make sure she has some fruit and veg each day. Meanwhile I have packet noodles for lunch.

I ahev noticed this too! I was buying myself a lot of veg, now I’m buying them vegetables and eating whatever’s leftover and starting to go. They get the fresh stuff! Yuki has really enjoyed nibbling at grass and dandelion leaves today.
