Hi everyone. We got our little guy Peaky a week ago and I’m just having trouble with him only eating Millet from the seed package (living world premium mix). At the end of the day it’s all the healthy stuff remaining in the tray and I have been putting in a ziplock bag and trying to give it to him the next morning. He usually will pick at it in the morning but he doesn’t have a good meal. At 1pm I give in and I refill the tray with more seeds. I feel terrible am I starving him? I don’t want to damage his health. I also hang different things from the bars everyday (carrots, cucumbers, cilantro) and he doesn’t touch it at all. I have read so many different websites but just wondering if one morning he will give in and eat all the healthy seeds? Also wanted to note that the store told me to give him millet spray as the only food source because “they are raised on that stuff and love it”. I gave him my opinion on millet spray and he wasn’t happy with it! Thanks! Jessica

Papaya, Coconut, White millet, Canary seed, Red millet, Red finch millet, Oat groats, Rape seed, Flaxseed, Hemp seed, Niger seed, Sesame seed, Carrot, Tropican egg granules which contain egg protein with vitamins and minerals.
Analysis
Protein: 13.0% Fat: 9.5% Fibre: 9.3% (Fibre is mainly in the shells and husks, not eaten by birds)www.petshopdirect.com.au/shop/item/living-world-premium-budgie-mix-908gThere is a lot in this mix that is not necessary for a budgie housed inside, in my opinion. The fat/oil content of a budgie mix should be not more than 5%; this is 9.5% Oil seeds: Rape seed, Flaxseed, Hemp seed, Niger seed, Sesame seed, and on top of that, oats (v fatty). You budgie mix should be made up of around 40% canary seed an the rest a mix of the different millets/panicum. This should be about 50% of the bird's diet with the rest being seeding grasses, fresh vegetables and a little fruit.
