I have been trying to get Cookie and Breezie to try out new veggies and food. I thought about creating a new thread to share the same. I wanted them to try capsicum seed and capsicum too. They have been always afraid of larger veggies. I did stuff all their mix in half capsicum. I had been thinking about not dividing it into two. But, then these two would fight, but would want to eat from the same bowl. They have no idea about foraging as well. Still, it's good as a starter trick. I tasted their food and I have no idea how they love it so much.. It's soooo healthy! Cookie was reluctant and paced to and fro on the perch, while Breezie instantly took to it. But eventually, Cookie was worried that Breezie was getting all the food, so she joined. She tried shredding capsicum too. It was thick, so they ate very less of it..but atleast they started developing taste. Breezie loved the capsicum seeds Here's the initial reaction: And there they go. So proud of my little braveheart. They didn't run to the corners of the cage😍 PS. I make that chop for 3 days in a row. I can never make a little amount for them. Even if i take the smallest amount, it ends up being more for them! Tomorrow, being a little ambitious, going to try something with egg.

Wow - that’s great, Mona! I’m going to get Ollie introduced to that! He’s used to watching budgie movies but now to slip in some healthy eating messages...

mona, Ollie is very interested and will often perch on top of iPad as if he’s trying to get as close to the movie buds as possible! I keep telling him I’m not all there is... As well as introducing him to Breezie and Cookie’s movie I will also give him some capsicum seeds on the core!

Loki loves capsicum cores, loves making a mess with the seeds. The budgies have never been interested but then they fill up on fresh grasses rather than their veg, plus I usually have red capsicums and you know what budgies' reaction to red food usually is! I don't think these two are reluctant to try new foods at all; I think they are very brave.

My mom's budgies love doing that too, Hezz. Somehow, just mine were super afraid. It's so nice to see them relishing food.

Today is the last day of their first year journey with me.. I made them a egg cake (mostly?!) 😅 The last encounter with egg wasn't as enthusiastic as this one. They literally didn't touch their favorite spinach. It's all mixed and mashed with the steamed food mash and egg yolk mash. Covered with moong beans, a bit of their chop and sprinkled seeds. Added green pea and brown chickpea cut in half. They didn't break the skin of corn. But, in all they tried a lot of new food today and digged right in plus finished almost everything, except the egg white, which went to the garden birds. They had to scratch the egg whites too, to grab their favorites and ended up eating that too. The amount of sprinkled seeds on their mid day meal is getting lesser with time 😍
