They step up on my finger, but only when in cage. Outside the cage, they have nothing to do with me. It's just their playground. ππ€·ββοΈ
Breezie steps up on my finger easily for millet.. and I can move him a bit..
Cookie is reluctant, but she steps up after a while. She stares at my finger and Breezie when she sees Breezie is up in the air on my finger and not the perch.. However, I can move Cookie perch to perch when she has stepped up on the food bowl..and she eats with her back at me, even when I'm holding the food bowl. I think that would mean trust π§‘π₯°
Yeah, that millet bit is very small.. Short on millet, so have broken the one I have left into tiny ones.. ππ€·ββοΈ
They both are drinking water from the water bowl held in my hand, if they are thirsty.
Other than that, an empty hand or finger doesn't appeal them at all. Breezie let me touch his beak twice or thrice in past few days and he runs away now.. they nudge my fingers too, to move food towards them.. Breezie recently tries to fly above or below my hand..
They are staying inside the cage for half day and outside for rest of the day. I don't want them to develop a habit to stay outside the cage at all times for the times when someone else is taking care of them in my absence. And they don't scream their heart out like last time! I love all of the developments! I never expected them to be hand tamed the way other birdies I saw.. When you don't expect anything and it happens, the level of happiness you experience is great!
PS: Sorry about the background radio. Trust me, even I don't understand the language. It's just for the birdies π₯° π

Isn't that the greatest feeling in the world when they step up on your finger even if it only a toe initially! The amount of millet that you are holding for them is exactly how much I give my guys as a treat. My guys started stepping up just like Breezie and Cookie and gradually hopped on more confidently. Now they fly to my hand when I'm holding the millet outside their cage. Keep it up, you are doing great!

I have had success with getting both of them step up on my finger. I can move breezie around in the cage till the time he is eating.. Cookie can't be moved easily..she is very cautious always..
They are also getting comfortable with my hand above their head - esp Breezie.. since he always perches on the lower perch when Cookie is on the top one and I feed something to her.. he just tilts his neck to look at my hand and sit there waiting for his turn..
Cookie has landed on my palm a couple of times when Breezie was eating millet from my hand.. Breezie has tried landing on my hand and flies back. Cookie also keeps her one foot on my palm when there are seeds.. Breezie does a knock knock kind of action with my palm or hand asking for his turn for grass, plants, millet or any favorite..
Also, tried pointing them to places by tapping my finger at some place.. when I open the cage, I always tap the platform perch at the entrance..with millets I keep the my hand on the opposite perches and tap my finger on the perch to direct them to come there.. when replacing food bowl, I tap on their food bowl.. seems to work so far, as I would like to believe..
Both of them run to the cage door.. that horizontal running is soo cute! And if breezie sees something in my hand, he would look at me with hopeful eyes and his beak out of the cage between the bars.. that's seriously very cute!!! π§‘

Glad that the taming is getting along quite well. Can you post a pic of when Breezie pokes his beak out of the cage bars? I'd love to see how cute it looks!π

I'll try to take a pic of that.. π He does that with the morning water too.. During winters we have been changing the overnight water with lukewarm water.. he knows that we'll change the water, so he doesn't drink the overnight water.. When we come back with the lukewarm water, he would run to the cage door waiting for the water bowl.. sometimes, he won't let us put down the bowl too.. 𧑠We avoid giving anything warm or lukewarm from our hand to avoid the hormonal thing, but sometimes they just don't wait up..

Fantastic! Love it! Just love when they try to stretch over as far as they can without touching the finger! In the end its like...oh I've just got to have it!
