OK so this is where I've got to so far. Any ideas where I should go from here, next steps etc ? Also I don't know if you can see from the photo, but there looks like a slight lighening/powderyness to one side of his beak, and a what looks like a slight overgrowth. Is this normal? Should I be giving him something to grind it down? Cuttlebone maybe? Thanks for any advice everyone

Hmmm I can’t tell what that is on his beak. Doesn’t look like mites. Could just be dry - you could put a little drop of olive oil on it (using your finger of course). Someone else might have another idea. That looks good so far with the taming! I think just keep spending time with him and feeding him while he is out and interacting with you. The more he associates you with food and being out and having fun, he will naturally bond with you. If you are looking for more specific training tips though, you can look into target training on YouTube. I think my birds find it fun and mentally stimulating, but not everyone enjoys it as a way to bond, so see for yourself. Beyond that there is introducing the clicker and teaching verbal commands - beginning with simple “tricks” like stepping up. The beginning ones are god for getting your bird comfortable being moved around while perched on you, or being handled so as to make vet visits less stressful, etc. Then others can get your bird thinking more and solving puzzles - trying to figure out what you want. It’s good mental stimulations for zoo animals and most pets (assuming it is always a fun game and there’s no pressure), but again some people prefer to just let their birds bond with them completely on their own terms.
