The “painter and decorator” went through today to make sure all work was completed for a first sleep tonight. It’s much the same size as their old one, but has the double doors which I much prefer and no useless slide up feeding windows which are a nuisance. There is about a centimetre difference in width and depth, so will be doing a fair amount of whittling to have the many perches trimmed down and fitting properly. No stretching the bars of the new house ... not yet, anyway. . It also comes with two powder coated ladders and platforms. So it can be used for little furry animals, I presume. They could be very useful for the elderly or infirm. Like this:

That's a beauty Hezz. I'm sure the gang will be happy to move home, what budgie wouldn't 😀

Ooooh lovely . I have this cage Hezz and i love it, the double doors are so useful. I use this one for the winter when i haven't got to move them from room to room, space is limited in the dining room when conservatory heats up so they are currently in the Montana which is a bit smaller. Out of the three cages it's def my favorite. I am parting with my Hamberly this year, end of an era

Yes, skysmum, Loki has a bigger version which was the budgies’ cage before he came along. Since then the little boys have had two second hand ones - one given to me and the other was Loki’s old one - both the same as the Hamberley in size and with the single large door. Like you say, the double doors are very useful. I hope this one is as good quality as the old one which is over 10 years old and looks as good as the day I bought it. Some photos before bed. Pick the nuisance.

"Henlo budgem frens!"
They've settled right in, and even have their first housewarming guest. I hope he brought them a gift!

Loki really is the big kid playing with the little kids’ toys - he breaks them. If it wasn’t for that, the three could share a cage quite happily. The little boys love their swings for sleeping; Loki pulls the perches off them, and they are such flimsy light plastic things, they don’t take much to break. During the day this cage goes back into the spare room and the little boys hang out on or in Loki’s cage. It means one less cage in the living area which isn’t big to start with.

I'm amazed at how good he is with the budgies Hezz, is that down to your good training, or his good temperament. He is just a big sweetheart 😘 I always have a few spare swings for that same reason, with me, it's the tiny hooks at the top that tend to break as I'm always taking the swing off to clean after Sam has fed it 😂

jellybean, I think Loki is so tolerant of the budgies since he moved into their home, not the other way round. They were the resident birds and he was probably happy to have some birdy company when he came to us. He is jealous of them, though, if I get talking smoochy to them. . He has to put himself in between but he doesn’t get aggressive with it, thankfully.

He’ll swap shoulders if OH comes to talk to me on the other side. I hope this cage stays as good as the other I have. We seem to end up with different versions of cages from what you have in the UK. It won’t be out in any weather, and it won’t be going into the shower to be cleaned as the previous owner used to do. .

He's such a character! Makes me think of how Indie behaves with Yuki. Probably a good thing I didn't go with the recommendation I was given of getting a conure back before I got Indie. It could have been great or could have caused havoc. We joked it's favourite would probably have been my housemate who isn't interested in pets.
