Hello everyone! I had 4 budgie chicks hatch the last week of June, and three of them I’m fairly confident I have sexed them correctly, but this last little one is giving me doubts, because their cere is not as dark s the boys but not as light as the girls, and I just want to make sure they go in the right cage since all but one of my birds are related and I don’t want any accidents. They’re some variation of clear wing pied, since I know that sometimes affects cere coloration. Any feedback would be appreciated? Thanks url=https://postimg.cc/yJ28QHbV] [/url]

Looks like you've got a little hen to me but let's see what more experienced people say.

I also think hen, assuming natural light and no flash.
More pictures are always helpful, just to be extra sure!

It’s natural lighting, but the cere does look a bit darker in person than it does in the picture, but there are still clear white/light rings around the nares. I’ll try to take a better picture tomorrow morning as it’s already past their bedtime here.

I took another photo of it helps, the lighting is a bit warm but the cere looks as close to in person as I can make it.

Such a cute little budgie! I'm still thinking you have a little girl but sometimes we are fooled. As the budgie matures during the first year, it will become more apparent if you have a boy or girl. One member here has a budgie that everyone said was a boy. As it matured that first year, it became obvious that "he" was a "she". In general, I've found the experienced folks here are very good at determining the gender.

Thank you for your input! I was fairly convinced it was a little hen up until last week, because her cere is so much darker than her sister’s who’s pale pale blue/white. But the brothers both have pink/purple, with lightish blue around the nares, but this little cutie doesn’t match either. Since we’re all in agreement she’s probably a little hen, I’ll continue to keep her with my hens for now, and update if anything changes. Thanks again 😊
