blueelephant Yeah, I'm hoping that she will at least be settled enough to spend time with the others. I love how much she wants to spend time with me but it is also a little tiring at times that she just won't be put down on another surface for a bit. ariella Next Thursday. But I might move her upstairs Wednesday night, although I'm working so maybe not because sorting out the larger cage will take a while. I'm off on Thursday though. Need to see if OH is taking the day off. By the time I finish Munchy's course of antibiotics it'll be almost time. samwiseg She is gradually settling so that's something. Hopefully she'll relax and explore more when she goes upstairs.

She has wised up to me attempting to pick her up meaning she's going back in the cage. Fortunately my repeated handling of her doesn't seem to be putting her off of my hands the rest of the time. But I wouldn't need to handle her if she didn't keep flying off every time we get to the cage door. 😂

Sounds like a little bribery may be in order.

Definitely, Hezz. Sometimes I can get her back in for food. I just need to make going home something good, so hopefully a treat will work, because right now being out on a person seems to be her number one preference. I'll see what happens when I introduce her to the boys. Not long now.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall for that meeting.

There's the old school part of me that wants to just enjoy the moment, and the modern tech part of me that wants to record the whole thing to show to everyone so they can share the moment.

Just enjoy the moment, I say. I think too often we are so busy recording things for prosperity that we don’t make the most of what is happening as it is happening. If things go well and you have time to get some footage, of course we would all love to see it.

When Tweetie Pie met Buddy the first time it did not go as I planned. I put the two cages side by side with the fronts facing each other and opened the doors. I thought Buddy would just fly into Tweetie Pie's cage but both birds came out and the next thing I knew both were flying about the room. I have a cord on my cell that I can hang off my neck so I put it around my neck and followed the birds around to make sure they weren't getting in trouble. Whenever one would land and be still, I snapped a picture. This went on for about an hour until they found their way back to the cage. That's when I took a lot of pictures. I'm so happy to have those pictures. Both birds were still in the "baby" phase and looked so cute. Both pictures I put in the advent calendar thread are from that day. So I'd suggest trying to do a combination of picture taking and just observing.

I imagine I'll be doing just that. Enjoying observing and then taking a quick pic or film if they seem to be doing a particular activity for a few moments.
We stopped by the pet shop on the way home today to pick something up and there was a gorgeous baby boy, dilute yellow faced violet with pale wing markings. If I had room and had been in the mind for a bird then he would have been the one. I'm trying to stop thinking about him now. I would have only wanted him because I liked his colouring anyway, even if I didn't have a lot to handle.

Thanks skysmum! Fingers crossed. I'm sure there will be teething issues, but hopefully they will get along once they know each other.

Ira the pet shop should really offer a delivery service to help people avoid such temptations 🤣.

For some reason, blueelephant, my mind then jumping to phoning up for a bird and them bringing a random one, like a budgie blind box, rather than the more sensible thought that you meant items rather than animals. I think it's partly because I've never seen a bird that looks like that available before. The want will pass in a few days, I'm sure. He'll probably be gone by the end of the day anyway.

Foetunately we go there very rarely.
OH has talked me out of getting the pretty budgie instead of the linnie. 😂
