Milli and Reva seem to love the regular seedmix instead of the husk free human grade foxtail millets.. but I don't see enough seed husks. So, I watched them for a while when eating, now that they are comfortable with me watching them..
I saw Reva break the seed, but eat the seed husk too after that and gulp down entire seed with husk too.. Would it harm them or make the digestion difficult? Or it's just me over thinking!
Finally, Milli started eating greens, grasses and seeds from my hand. Not yet there with soft food.. but they really eat the entire green leafy veggies - all of it!!! Unlike all our other budgies... Cookie and Yeli need to really learn from them, not to shred but eat these greens..

I don’t know about husks. Just thinking actually, I don’t see a lot either.
Glad the veggies are on the increase.

I don't know for sure but I would think the husks would just pass through them. Maybe Hezz knows. It might be god for them just like roughage is for us - helps clean out the gut. Can you see any of the undigested husks in their poop? Good that they are learning to eat their greens!

I’m sure there would be a certain amount of husks swallowed, especially in the early stages of learning to feed for themselves. Since a parent or other older bird usually helps them to learn this behaviour, it would be fair to assume that this would happen without any damage done.
