My 2 week old baby budgie is being handfed Lafeber's nutri-start baby bird formula. His poop started out black/white now is brownish/taupe color. Is this ok?

This is normal if the baby went from being parent m-fed mostly seeds and is now on a hand feeding formula. Formulas and pellets will turn budgie poop to a more brownish color, but there should always be white urates as well.

Why aren't the parent feeding it?

I was going to ask this too. Was the chick neglected by the parents? Why aren't the parent feeding it?

Some people remove the chicks at two weeks to be handled by humans, either by themselves or given/sold to those who want to hand feed themselves. It is supposed to make for more bonded birds … *shrug*

I didn't want to assume, but was worried this might be the case. Some people remove the chicks at two weeks to be handled by humans, either by themselves or given/sold to those who want to hand feed themselves. It is supposed to make for more bonded birds … *shrug*
