An old neighbour did the same thing a few years ago and had to spend 5 weeks in hospital and a further 5 weeks in a care home due to being disabled, so I’m really relieved you’re able to be at home as I’m certain recovery is much easier in your own surroundings. Hope that you are managing to sleep. Look after yourself Shirls.

Wow, I've just caught up with the relationship news. I think it's lovely and exciting and I had no idea so it was a total surprise. I glad you know about more about your injury Shirls. I hope it heals well. My mum broke her shoulder a few years back and even though it took a while, it healed properly. She did all her exercises and got full movement back in her arm, unlike one of her friends who had a similar injury didn't do the exercises.

Wishing you a full problem-free recovery, Shirls. Don’t overdo anything and remember the three “P’s” - be Patient with the healing process, Persist with your exercises, and don’t be afraid to be a Pain in the a*se; ask for help when you need it.

Same thing I did Shirls, they told me I would never be able to get my arm upright properly, wash my hair and generally doom and gloom. I went to my physio who said he would get my movement back to 99% but would not say 100% as I may sue him!!!! He gave me this wheel thing with ropes, just like a pulley, you hang it over your door and hold onto the two roper and gently everyday, 3 times a day, lift your bad arm with the pulley, everyday got a little better. I had private physio for a year and my shoulder is great. The only thing I struggle with is fastening a necklace behind my neck.
I know this sounds funny but I measure my progress on how I could fasten my bra at the back, took about 4 - 6 months but I did it.
The hospital physio and doctors didn't seem to want to bother, but thank goodness for my physio he persevered. I will be forever grateful to him and his positivity.
Good luck Shirls

I've never been able to do that suesbird. I always fasten it at the front and then turn it round Same thing I did Shirls, they told me I would never be able to get my arm upright properly, wash my hair and generally doom and gloom. Thank you so much everyone. It's so good to hear that others have recovered almost fully after the same injury. Thanks for the three 'P's tip Hezz. I keep getting told off for apologising for being a 'pain in the a*se!' I'm a little on the independant side and will always try and manage without help. I'm so impressed suesbird, never could do bra up from the back myself!!! Thank you also re the positives you experienced with the physio. I am quite determined to try my best to get back to or as near as possible to normal, even though not feeling too great at the moment. You really are such a kind and inspirational bunch, thank you all so much for your good wishes. Will pop back in again soon to see what you are all up to.

My mum was really pleased when she could do her bra up at the back again too suesbird
Shirls My mum tried to be as independent as she could be too. But no one minds helping when someone you care about needs it. I couldn't be much help as I live on the other side of the country but my stepdad did a great job and when he wasn't there my brother stepped in. He's a care worker so that minimised their embarssment a bit. I've always wondered how many women actually can do bras up at the back. I assumed everyone could because I can and my mum can but since found out that many women can't. I've just been googling for some data but not found any yet.

criswell I thought doing them up at the back was just how it was done too, so that's how I learned to do it. Mind you, I bought a necklace and was confused because I had to use my left hand to do the clasp until I unthreaded the chain and flipped it around, and then I realised that it was so you could do it up at the front with your right hand and then rotate the chain. Now memories of my struggle in the shop are rather embarrasing!

Isn't it funny I have always done it up at the back but my daughters friends in their 30's can't do it. Some hope for us 60+ year olds.

Re the bra thing, I think it has a lot to do with who you learn from, how they do things. I always did my bra up at the front simply because my mother did, then only after many years found that not everyone did it this way! .
