Had a bit of an accident last week, fell over on the patio and broke my arm! Very painful, never broken a bone before in my life, and am over 70 !! The break is in the humerous of my right arm and I'm right handed. So there won't be many comments from me on the forum for a while, it takes so long to type. But I will pop in from time to time to see what you are all up to. Take care everyone.

I'm sorry to hear that Shirls. How are you managing at home with the birdies and the chooks?

Thank you JB. With difficulty jellybean! I am lucky enough I have a lovely daughter that lives not too far from me and she looks after me very well. But I do have to deal with the chooks twice a day with bits in between. The buds I can do mostly by myself with just a little help. They are all having to get used to a different routine and are doing really well.

oh no, poor you.. ouch! how long have they said it would take to heal?
depending on what type of phone you have, you could dictate into it, then copy and paste on here, anything else.. easier than typing.
Glad you are getting help.. hope the pain eases

Ouch Shirls, that sounds awfully painful. I hope it doesn't take too long to mend.

Here's hoping you mend quickly! As we get older, we all go through our own "ouchies". Great that you've got your daughter nearby to help. Hopefully you can still manage to cook some of your favorite foods - that always makes me feel better. I'll just imagine you reading our postings and smiling at our birdies antics while yours keep you company. Best wishes!

How awful for you Shirls. Hope you soon recover and the pain eases. Be ever so careful going out to the chooks, especially with the frosts starting to come in.

Oh Shirls, gin and ibuprofen works wonders for pain. I was told by my physio when I broken the top of my arm in 3 places, it takes until about week 10 before the night pain eases and he was right. I had never broken a bone until I fell over at 62. I know how good your daughter is, you are lucky, mine lives in London, 3 hours away and son in Wolverhampton way, 1 1/5 hours away. You will soon get used to using your left arm. Take care. xxx

Glad you have someone to keep an eye on you, Shirls seeing as you are determined not to look out for yourself. Please be a little kinder to your old bones from here on in. Xx

Thank you all for your well wishes, you are such a lovely bunch on here. Yes suesbird, apparently breaking the humerous is worse than breaking your lower arm bones. Yes Hezz, message received loud and clear! No home cooked meals I'm afraid tweetiepiesmom, the weight of pots and pans are quite difficult to deal with especially when washing up! Big clean out for the buds this morning, imagine cleaning a Piano 6 with one arm! Just plucking up the courage to do the washing up!
