I breed English budgies and am extremely careful with my flock. Two nests recently had several babies who lost wing and tail feathers as well as 2 that have lost a few body feathers. I have recently had a mite outbreak in the aviary (it is outdoors). I have treated the adults, cleaned the cages etc and will continue to do so. 2 of the babies were taken to an avian vet and were tested for viruses. I wanted to make sure it wasn't pbfd but thought maybe polyomavirus. The budgies tests came back negative for both viruses. Could it just be the mites??? I am treating the babies with ivermectin and giving them protein and vitamins for feather growth.
