My little Sam seems to have a considerable amount of feather loss on her chest all of a sudden. She was paired with Desmond, for years, and now Desmond has gone off with Carmen.
I don't know if the feather loss is stress due to this ie self plucking. Or if she's had a to do with Carmen and come off worse.
She's never moulted like this before and has no pinnies so I don't think it's that.
I'm worried about her. Guess it's a watch with a close eye and see, but open to suggestions or advice.

Poor little Sam. I think keeping an eye on them is the thing to do. I don't see bare skin so maybe its not too severe.

I've just been back out and there are more feather under where she is, I think it's her pulling them out.
I'm not sure what to do, I cant stop Desmond being with Carmen but I want to help Sam. Querying if I should bring her in, but would that cause more stress. Hhm, this is a pickle.
Yes tweetie, it's just her outer layers. Hoping it will stop.

Could you bring her in, to see, in case she’s not too stressed?

I think I might Fran, will go and set a cage up for her now. Poor little thing, feel for her. Didn't know if I was over reacting, just needed someone to say the same as I was thinking

I totally get it. Maybe the change of scene might distract her, if she’s plucking. Poor thing.

Hopefully yes 🙏🏼
She in the big cage with Bruce, he's got liver issues so won't do him any harm to be inside with her, plus it's company even though they are next to George and pearl.
The aviary looks almost empty!!!

If it is any consolation, my blue boys would often look like this during a moult. I’d find a pillow-full of feathers on the floor of the cage from overnight, not so many during the day (or did they all disperse with flying around?) and tons more during the night again. It would only last for a couple of days, but of course would take much longer for the feathers to grow back and they would stop looking quite so moth-eaten.
Hopefully it is just a heavy moult that Sam is going through.

Ben did the same thing the other week, and looked the same as your little Sam.

She is bossing Bruce around so that's a good sign (not for Bruce of course). No more plucking today....I've put some millet in their cage and some new toys.
