I used to give ACV 3 drops per 50ml, but I don't think you can really overdose on ACV but a teaspoon I felt was a little strong, the taste would perhaps put a birdie off but it sounds like it worked a treat though, so well done. Just gone back and noticced it was a teaspoon in 500ml, so that really is/was ok. Same really with milk thistle start off with 3 drops and you can always increase it slowly drop by drop.

Hope everyone is doing well 🙂
He’s been on milk thistle 3 drops in 100 ml since then, and thankfully no more vomiting episodes, his beak is still growing though and we have to cut it every few weeks. Recently he’s been doing something new, when he wants to poop, he’s doing a movement (right and left ) with his bum to poop, and his dropping are sometimes larger than his usual ones, still mostly wet though which is his normal. Ohh I also give them ACV every other day (3 drops in 100 ml) one day just milk thistle and the next day both milk thistle and ACV.
Is it normal or should I be concerned, he’s normal otherwise, eating, chirping, drinking…etc.
Any input would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Sorry can’t help on the poop issue, I’m glad he’s not been sick again. I’m not sure, others will advise, but I don’t think ACV can be given with milk thistle - but I may be wrong

As long as he isn’t having problems doing a poo, there isn’t much you can do about it anyway. His liver is most likely enlarged with the problems he is having with it, and there is very little (none) spare room in a budgie’s body cavity, so it is possible that this is impeding his waste disposal to some extent. He may need an anti-inflammatory later down the track but that is not going to be easy for you to get hold of, I imagine. Turmeric powder may be your best bet there and I know you can get capsules that are supposedly triple strength which you may be able to break open and sprinkle on his food.

Thank you Hezz for your reply and assistance, I found this brand of capsules with nothing added in the ingredients on Iherb , is this what you mean? If yes, so I would open the capsule and sprinkle a little bit of it on his wet vegetable food on a daily basis? I just want to make sure, I also found this normal organic turmeric powder, should I use this one too? At least as a start? I really appreciate all your help Hezz, I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for our birds over the years ❤️🐥🌹

I use them together, both seem to do their job very well without interfering with each other.

Regarding the turmeric, I would go for the capsules with their concentrated value, but if all you have for starters is the cooking powder, and you want to try that first, go right ahead. It may be all that he needs at this stage. Again, like the milk thistle none of this is an exact science - all the big money lies with cats and dogs, birds way down the list and budgies at the bottom end of the birds simply due to their small size. All you can do is try these things. You may have read Ira’s thread about Munchy’s foot where she has been trying him on turmeric as well and he doesn’t seem to mind the taste on his food and showing some improvement. If his condition seems to be getting worse, don’t forget that you have the option of the stronger dose of turmeric with the capsules.
