Hey friends, Disco(my green budgie) earlier had some liver disease. He was on medication from around 2 months. Now from 2-3 days he is having water in most of his droppings. There are not proper vets available in here, to contact with. I am very much scared about him. Also his chirping is a little wierd. The weather here is a little cold. Also, he has not eaten much today. He eat properly only once and after that he drank a little water. We are offering him food again and again but he is not eating it. The symptoms are confusing for me. So I thought to share here, some photos and vedios. His morning droppings: How he looks like nowadays: His chirping behaviour, also he is kind of taking vomiting out some seeds. Kind of this vedio, is a little confusing drive.google.com/file/d/1BHoQg4Fm7ERqC7T-XFGl4-1BQAB72nA6/view?usp=sharing

Making an assumption that the blue budgie is Daisy? In that video, Daisy is regurgitating seeds to Disco, which is a normal behaviour. I couldn't see any vomiting from either of them, which is usually accompanied by violent head shaking from side to side. If he's not eating then there's nothing solid to go into his droppings, so only the water is being passed. I believe Hezz has often recommended this for poorly budgies instead of their usual water. It might help a little if he is drinking still. Electrolyte solution: Home-made Lactated Ringers electrolyte solution for sick birds (rehydration) • 8oz warm water • ½ tablespoon sugar • 1/8 teaspoon salt • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda Mix all together in a jar, stir well and refrigerate. Will keep for 2-3 days in fridge. Keep him warm. Covering the cage on 3 sides and providing a source of warmth that he can move away from if he's had enough. If he has diagnosed liver problems then adding Milk Thistle to the water may help. Other members may have more ideas. He may need another trip to the vet though.

Thank you for replying back. I initially though there is something stuck in his neck. As his chirping is changed completley. As seen in the vedio, I doubt about any respiratory disease as well. Hoping for the best. Also, I tried contacting The vet, he said its normal.. But I don't feel its okay Making an assumption that the blue budgie is Daisy? If he was on meds for the liver issue and then this has been stopped, it may explain why he isn’t feeling so good now. Is it only recently that you have ceased giving him the medication for his liver issue? Unless you make a radical change to his diet, a liver issue is not going to go away. It can be managed but the issue will always be there. Milk thistle drops are the most effective way of managing liver disease in budgies, but generally it means that they are on it for the rest of their lives, unless, as said before, you radically change their diet.
Depending on how much feeding is going on between Daisy and Disco, since he is getting feed from the other bird he may not need to feed as much for himself.

THanks for replying Hezz. When we adopted him he had white droppings from the beginning. Earlier we were not aware of this. He was on Liv 52 from around 2 months and sometimes the vet suggested to include silyborn syurp, which had contents of milk thisle. Now the vet has nearly no ideas. The droppings are turned green, but sometimes 2-3 droppings are white in colour which lets be believe the liver issue is still here, as you mentioned it never goes suddenly. If possible can you share the details of quantity of milk thisle to give in diet. I have the powder form of the seeds of milk thisle. I am unware of the dosage to be given and how many days a week it should be given. On the other hand, by second budgie daisu has the perfect droppings, maybe he isn't affected much by his diet history when he was with someone else. Daisu is smaller in age than disco. They both are in the same cage. If I add milk thisle to disco's diet, will it effect Daisu, or should I include in diet toegather, or seperately? Thanks for listening. Update on his health: Firstly, thanks to everyone who replied. I am thankful to this forum and the members of this forum. Disco wasn't eating much earlier, and had a transparent liquid droppings. A day later, in the morning he wasn't eating, so we gave him boiled mung beans, which was his favourite, he than ate whole day. I could see, he was very much hungry. The droppings are back to solid form. Also here are some of his happy pictures.

I'm glad that his droppings are back to solid form. But he still looks a bit fluffed up.

It is very good news that he is eating well now. I’m afraid i don’t have a reference to start with with milk thistle powder, so you will have to experiment with doses. It is great that he is doing much better now, as you can start off its a small amount and gradually increase as needed or if you see no results. I presume it can be given either on food or in water?? it won’t hurt your other bird to have access to the milk thistle as well. I have healthy birds that will bypass plain water to drink from the milk thistle water. . mona gives her budgies a great variety of sprouts and other “human” foods, so see if you can get some advice there on what and where to get them. More fresh food and less seed is going to help your budgie with the liver issues so much.

Yes it is usually very cold here. We are keeping the room warm. But the thing is he recently learned, coming out of the cage. And now he wants to come out again and again. I wanna train him to come out at a specific time, since I am working for the rest of the day, I would not be able to keep him out the whole day. But he is very stubborn in nature, and now he wishes to be out of the cage for the most time. Since its difficult to keep the room warm when it comes to in comparision with keeping the cage warm. I am confused how should I train him. I'm glad that his droppings are back to solid form. But he still looks a bit fluffed up.

Yes sure, I will include milk thisle in his diet daily. Thanks for the information. Will update the results soon here, on weekly basis. For now he has 2-3 white droppings from the overall droppings and those white droppings are only seen in the night. It is very good news that he is eating well now. He is also moulting so a little bit of hard boiled egg or dried eggfood may help with his eating, as well.
