My wife and I are devastated! I had made an appointment with an avian vet, but our precious little pet died before we could keep it. She was always a happy little bird, in spite of the runny poop condition, always chatting to her toys, or happily sitting on my shoulder, right up until I took her to bed and covered her, as I always do. The following morning I found her lying dead on the floor of her cage! I couldn't believe that my little companion was gone and was in total shock as I told my wife the news. I'm still finding it hard to accept, it's heartbreaking. I know we must move on with our lives, but that's easier said than done. Rest in peace, my dear little friend. Bob

I am so sorry for your loss. Birds are so good at hiding any illness until it is too late for us to do much to help.
At least she got to know some love in her short life and her illness wasn't long, drawn out and painful.
Rest In Peace little girl. Xx

Thank you all for your kind words, they are much appreciated! Little Birdie and I had a very close bond, right from the day she was placed in my hand by her breeder. No other pet I have owned whose passing has been as heartbreaking as that of my little companion. In time we will get another budgie, but but it will never "replace" little Birdie.

A new bird would never be a replacement, all budgies have different personalities and would find a way into your heart in it's own right Thank you all for your kind words, they are much appreciated! Certainly never be a replacement. Budgies have as many different personalities as humans, I think; no two are ever the same.

We decided that it was time to get another budgie, it was lonely (and too quiet) without one, so we contacted our wonderful breeder, Esther, enquiring if she had a baby for us. She said that she had one, but it wouldn't be ready for another 2 to 3 weeks. She posted pictures along the way, which we loved and yesterday she called on my iPhone and posted photos of the little baby, saying that it would be ready for us to fetch it next Wednesday. Esther is the kindest, most caring lady, who has a love of budgies! When we arrive to pick up our budgie, I'll take some photos of Esther's aviaries and post them here.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures and what you decide to name him/her. The new baby budgie's chirps will fill your house with lovely noise!
