Hi! My budgie Rio has been sitting with her wings slightly open, like what budgies do when they’re hot. Her behaviour is completely normal, if not more energetic than usual. She is doing this weird thing where she chews on her cage bars, but other than that it’s normal. Her appetite and drinking is normal, and her droppings look normal but are a bit watery-mostly the white part. I’ve been feeding her more vegetables and have recently changed her regular food brand. I’ve also given her a cuttlebone for the first time in a while, and she’s always chewing at it. I’m thinking her change in diet could cause the weird droppings, but I’m not sure about the spread wings. She’s also occasionally sleeping on 2 feet with her head tucked in. I’ve felt around for any weird lumps on her body and there are none that I can find. I’ve felt for drafts and there aren’t any and the house temperature is the same as it’s always been. There’s a certain toy that she spreads her wings out a lot around, but it doesn’t have any mirrors, so I’m thinking it may be a hormonal thing. She also does the head regurgitation bob but doesn’t finish regurgitating. Thoughts?

The pictures show that her cere is very dark brown maybe a little crusty so its possible her behavior might be hormonal. Let's see what people with experience with budgie hens think. She's very pretty.

A change in diet can cause a change in poop for some budgies, and it is usually recommended that any changes be made slowly. If she has been nibbling on the cuttlefish bone, she may be drinking more than usual which will affect her droppings as well.
Just watch out for any nesting-type behaviour such as trying to find hidey holes, be careful of half open drawers etc, if she is wanting to get clucky this is what she will be looking for. Make sure there are no nesting places or materials that might appeal to her, otherwise I think her behaviour sounds perfectly henny.
How old is she?

More reason to not allow her to get too comfortable with anything nest-like then. She is at the tail end of her safe-to-lay time of life. Not all hens have an interest in laying but the ones who do can be difficult to persuade otherwise.
