One of the budgies looks like it's rolled in poo! It's greeny black all down the back especially round the neck. Her vent is fine, just on the back. I've tried giving her a bath, and even wiping gently with wet kitchenroll, but although it's removed some it's still there. She's not keen on handling.
Any suggestions other than wait for the next moult?

You could try hanging up a bunch of wet basil leaves.

She may just preen it off herself.

She's had it for a few days now and I've tried spraying her with water and gently rubbing and there's still lots stuck. She is preening it (and her mate is too) but it's not making huge differences. I can't even work how she got it in the first place.
She's white so it's very obvious.

She was probably sitting under, in the direct line of poop. Offer her bathing opportunities, mist her gently if she doesn’t mind too much or hang dripping-wet foliage in the cage - the preferred way for most budgies to bathe.

Thanks. I will persist in gently cleaning. She's rather smelly at the moment!

Quick update to say she's pretty much back to normal now. I think she may have preened a few feathers out as she looks a little thin round her neck line, but the feathers are pretty much back to white now.
