Chocobo is looking into boxes. I haven't asked her why. Eeyore doing a better job of preening Patch. He has clearly been taking notes when Hibs preens Squeak. Mr Hibs and Squeak feeding session. All taken after an interesting insight into flock dynamics. Hibs and Eeyore have been battling it out for much of this week, about 60-40 in favour of Mr Hibs. The issue is access to the youngsters -if separated, the young budgies are accompanied by their respective senior and there are few problems. This changes when the youngsters want to spend time together, which is often as that's how they like to nap (pressed up to each other). Then, all puppy dogs breaks loose, as Hibs doesn't like it when Eeyore is too near Squeak. There were a fair number of aerial duels today and some argie-bargie on the perches just now. The youngsters were getting disturbed and were unable to snooze. This was most recently resolved in an interesting fashion - Squeak drove off Patch from their shared perch and order was restored. It was like Squeak understood what was happening and dealt with it. This makes me think that Squeak might be a hen after all.

Chocobo has wanted to explore a Forbidden Place for ages now. Today she got her wish. I got this. Totally under control. What's in this bowl? Argh! "Get out! Get out!" "And stay out!" I see this as being a regular thing now.

A Budget Meeting was called, budgets only! Privacy is of the utmost importance, I believe we can begin ... Family snapshot. With all the recent bickering, it's nice to be reminded that sometimes, budgies can get along

I was trying to get a snap or maybe a vid of Eeyore serenading a knot in the wood of the play gym. It was very funny and sweet. Chocobo appeared on the scene so I hung on to see what happens. I was a bit surprised when Chocobo hopped up next to Eeyore and Eeyore tolerated it. Eeyore playing it cool. I wasn't expecting what transpired. I've never see those two as close and as chilled out as this. I was almost expecting Eeyore to give her a kiss! Didn't happen but they parted on good terms. Maybe Eeyore thinks he need allies in his skirmishes with Mr Hibs?

Aww, maybe Eeyore will help chocobo to be included in the flock… 😊 The flock are all in Chocobo's aviary for tonight, by the looks of things. She was crying a little while ago but the budgies switched around and all is quiet now. Patch is sat next to Chocobo and she seems happy enough - Patch gets on with everyone.

I hope they are all okay together tonight. Does Chocobo sleep in with the others (or them in with her) often? The sleeping arrangements are odd and unpredictable. Lately it's a different permutation each night. Slightly more common is Chocobo alone with Hibs, or with Hibs and Squeak. The other night, Squeak spent the night alone. It's fascinating. I remember when I just had Hibs and Eeyore, when Blondie Bear (Brown Jenkins' brother) was alive. BB got into the cage I had for the budgies back then and he had a lovely time exploring. Hibs was on the outside of the cage, staring in at the gerbil and his sheer audacity.

Another fractious morning for the seniors. I have had to draw the line at Hibs harassing Eeyore and Patch when they are alone togather, there's no need for that and I put a stop to it when I see it. When they do get time to themselves, Eeyore and Patch are very sweet and Eeyore's preening skills are improving, overall. A brief clip: 1drv.ms/v/s!AnyoyWilEZ_Xhv9Uus3uJV-t_X2y2Q?e=845Fa5

That's a lovely clip of Eeyore preening Patch. It's nice that Eeyore is being friendly to Chocobo too. Hopefully things will settle down between him and Mr Hibs soon.

Eeyore (Hector) is so cute, no wonder Patch likes him so much.

Sad news - it appears Brown Jenkin the Gerbil has suffered a serious stroke. He's holding on but he sleeps a lot now and is extremely wonky on his feet and finding it impossible to balance.
I'm not sure what to do. I really didn't expect him to still be with us this morning. He's eaten a peanut today but nothing more than that, as far as I can tell. He doesn't seem in distress at this time.
I feel very sad, he's a lovely boy and I hate that I won't see him scampering around again.
