I'm certain this has come up before. I'm more curious than worried but I wonder what this behaviour from young Herman signifiies: 1drv.ms/v/s!AnyoyWilEZ_Xh4ROdKTBZjby8hGcJQ?e=M8wlo4My observations are: There doesn't appear to be any convulsive movement accompanying the "beaking behaviour". Occurred over a period of two-three minutes. Herman indulged in normal behaviours throughout - preening, brief face rubbing, chewing on his shreddable toy, etc No sign of distress, during or at any other time After it stopped, no sign of discomfort Herman is three-quarters the way through his month-long ivermectin treatment (preventative, no sign of mites) I'm assuming it is some kind of crop management. I've had other of my budgies do the same thing from time to time. Anyone know what this is about?

Yes, your assumption is correct - he's just adjusting his crop. Sometimes it happens after they eat or it may happen quite some time after they eat. Some birds hardly ever do it while others do it frequently. Nothing to worry about. He is so cute!

He is indeed cute, tweetiepiesmomBut he's so lazy. He still won't take himself back to his cage. On the plus side, he did sit on the aloe vera plant today! Briefly.

He might just not want to go back to his cage rather than being lazy.

That would be likely except he'll normally willingly jump off my finger on arrival and fly into the cage to eat, drink, play with his toys, etc.
He's either lazy, or he was hired solely for his looks, if you get my meaning.
