...or not in our house. Here, you snooze and everyone else joins in. Honestly you'd think they'd had a full on day but more accurate is they are living the good life and taking things easy! This morning I turffed them all out of the cage and shut the door so they had to have some enforced play time. Otherwise they come out for five minutes and go straight back in. After half an hour Toby was doing laps of the room in protest 😂

Maybe I should try that with Tweetie Pie and Buddy! I put their food out beside their playgym. They come out, eat and then fly back in. Late in the afternoon, they do the mad flying dash around. I have noticed in the past couple of days that they are getting a bit friskier - spring is in the air! I think I need to encourage more exercise.

I feel so mean! The little guys came out to eat and I closed the door to their cage. Each flew back and landed on the door then flew to the top of the cage. I couldn't take it so I opened the door to let them go in. My little perch potatoes are huddled next to each other preening. I think they're afraid to come out again!

I do the same, blueelephant - kick them out and then close the door. . Otherwise they do seem to forget that there is such a thing as flying around that they should be doing. For me having them in two separate rooms is part of the problem. I’ve noticed that the more they are in numbers, the more active they are, and two just settle into a too comfortable routine.

I've been the same for quite a while, now, because Indie never wanted to come out and Yuki copied him. So I used to either chase or lure them out and then shut the door to force them to explore a bit. Now it's just the way things are. I've told them all that if they want to sit around, fine, but they can do it outside the cage because they spend more than enough time sat inside it whilst we're at work.

OK, maybe I need to close the door after they've come out and just not think about them being unsettled.

Delighted to hear I am not being super mean 😂. I shall tell them that next time I get glared at.
I shall also be calling them perch potatoes from here on in!

I can't take credit for the phrase "perch potatoes". I heard it during a webinar given by an avian vet on general pet bird health and care while he was talking about how birds need to get out of the cage and fly around.
