I’m so pleased Charlie is improving ladybird. It must be so nice to see him talking and eating again. He’s clearly being taken good care of even with the avian vet away. How frustrating for you that she is. Wednesday will soon come round and hopefully the vet will be able to speak to you and give a clear indication of what has been wrong and how to proceed. I really hope she says that you can take him home. I’m sure once he’s had a couple of days back in his cage and in familiar surroundings he’ll soon realise he’s home and start to get back to the cheeky Charlie I love reading about and listening to in the videos.

Good news that Charlie is returning to his old self. Don’t worry about how he will be with you once he gets home. That will sort itself out soon enough.

Charlie looks and sounds much better. I am sure he'll remember you and after a period of settling in back home it'll be like he's never been away

Thanks everyone, yes he is looking and sounding much better. I may never know what was wrong with him, and that isn’t good really. I will have to see what the Avian vet says when I speak to het on Wednesday.

Let's hope the avian vet has some good news on Wednesday and you can take Charlie home.

Thank you Marianne I really hope so it will have been two long weeks without him. I just don’t know if she will want to do tests on him or discharge him…..I have to wait until she phones me 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Hopefully she won't need to keep him much longer even if she does do some tests. It is going to be such a happy day when he is back home with you.

Just got back from seeing Charlie. He was quiet at first, then I offered him some millet and he sat on my hand and ate it. He then played with by bracelet and wanted to run up my arm to be near me……I feel bad not letting him and will be so glad when he can come home. I have to phone the vet at lunchtime on Wednesday to see what she says…….. I hope she doesn’t give me the choice of him having tests, because that would mean him staying in longer…but I will just do what she says…. The little Parralett is still there and keeps shouting to Charlie….It’s leg is a mess, apparently it keeps pulling its splint off……I took him some toys and gave it some millet…..it’s not tame at all…Poor little thing I feel so sorry for it. I put a wooden perch on the floor, but doubt it will use it……They have called it Val, but I pointed out that it’s a boy 😀…….I expect they are also waiting for the Avian vet to see what is going to happen with its leg………. ( note to self…stop getting attached to the Parralett)

Glad Charlie perked up. I know how hard it must have been when he wanted to run up your arm. Are they saying he’s eating normally now, and did you see any droppings? I’m just thinking of those are normal then unless something untoward, the vet may be happy for him to go. The fact that given how poorly he was, and he’s still here after a few weeks, hopefully was a low level of something that he’s fought, with meds
Oh poor little thing. I’m glad that Charlie is still there for him to shout to

Charlie sounds like he's doing very well indeed How do you tell the difference between male and female parrotlets?

The females have a tuft of yellow feathers above the cere, and the males have a few dark blue feathers on the tips of wings….. It’s a blue bird so it was difficult to see them….

I'm glad you had a nice visit with Charlie. The vet might see how well he is and decide not to do tests. Whatever it was might not show up if the medication has got rid of it.
It's a shame that parrotlet won't keep the splint on. Maybe the avian vet will be able to splint it in a different way.

Oh my goodness ladybird, I've just caught up with the rollercoaster that you and poor Charlie have been on. I was so relieved to hear he's improving and have everything crossed for your call with the vets tomorrow. Thinking of you both x
