I'm sorry to hear Charlie is not doing well today. It's very unlikely this will be anything you have done, and you really are doing everything you can to help him by the sounds of things. Agree with others just offer food and water as often as you can. Even sitting with him so he knows you are nearby will be reassuring for him. Appreciate though how upsetting it is to do this when they are poorly.
Sending positive thoughts to you and Charlie. X

Thank you everyone you are all so kind. We had to go out this afternoon so I made sure Charlie was nice and warm, and as we went out I said to him Bye Bye Charlie we won’t be long and as we got to the door he said…bye bye C Ya! This is something I say every time I go out but definitely wasn’t expecting his usual reply today. He said it with his head tucked under his wing too. Tonight he has been eating a lot to, just like last night and had quite a few sips of the antibiotic water. He has just said..Nigh Night sleep tight so he wants to be put to bed….. I am surprised at him because this morning he really looked like he wouldn’t make the day out. Marianne, I just offered him your drink and he had a sip so thank you….. We will see what tomorrow brings because he was eating a lot last night then very bad this morning. One again thank you all xx

Please get better for your mum Charlie and have a good nights rest. xxxx

Me too, dreading it. He definitely seems as if he is improving a bit, given he’s talking a little plus drinking. The mix Marianne Marlow suggested will give him back bits he’s lost, sounds like diarolyte? Come on Charlie, you can do it.

The electrolyte solution may help him perk up but given he has been eating and drinking anyway, I’m not sure you will see much difference. I’m sure you have said, and I think it is that Charlie is a fussy eater, correct? While I wouldn’t offer him any greens, a little soaked seed may be easier for him to eat and digest. And I think you said he was eating the dry eggfood? Is that still happening? Will he eat it as a porridge rather than dry? Perhaps you could mix some up with his AB’s. I’d also make sure to have some probiotics on hand for when the AB’s are finished, although it is considered more productive to give the probiotics in conjunction with the AB’s, these days.

Thank you Hezz for advice. Yes Charlie has always been a fussy eater and I really have tried him with everything I could think of. The only thing green he will eat is Basil , but I am not offering that at moment. Even egg food he is fussy with, and I have to bury a few tiny bits of millet in it ….it make him have to find it and he has to eat some egg food. I tried soaking his millet in the antibiotic solution but he wouldn’t touch it like that. He has eaten a little of his Tip Top seed this morning and he had a sip of the antibiotic mix. He seems slightly brighter than yesterday morning although still quiet and not moving much. I have some Guardian Angel for after the antibiotics…is this what you mean! He is still far from better but I am doing all I can….Will keep him warm and quiet today again…. Thank you again.

Back to being the same as yesterday morning, sitting fluffed up and quiet…and I really thought he was picking up last night 😥 . I have a hot water bottle on his cage.and his cover half round the cage.

Will Charlie eat the dry eggfood mixed with a little of the antibiotics as Hezz suggested?

Is the room nice and warm for him? He's fluffed up as he's trying to preserve body heat and it takes a lot of energy from him.

He won’t even try it Marianne. Yes we have the fire on and I have a hot water bottle on top of his cage and a fleece blanket draped half round his cage…..Is there anything else I can do for him? He just had a bit of red millet but wouldn’t have a drink just then.

How are his droppings?
Can you clip some millet next to him and make sure his medicated water is on the same level he is, so that he can just lean over and get some?

What dropping I can see look ok, but it’s difficult because the bottom of his cage has a layer of wood chipping ( for birds) . His water is right next to him, but I could clip the millet there too……he can’t eat too much of that can he? One thing I can say is that he is not tail bobbing. I keep unclipping his water bottle and offering it to him in his cage but he doesn’t want any .

I wouldn't worry about the millet being bad for him at this time. He needs to eat plenty to get better. You can focus on his diet when he's more well. Millet is easy for him to eat and isn't as hard for him to crack.
If he is not tail bobbing that is good.
If you put a little piece of kitchen towel under him then you can see his dropping when they fall.
His droppings would be a good indicator of how well he is.
