ladybird, can you try and make this and put a drop into his beak? Home-made Lactated Ringers electrolyte solution for sick birds (rehydration) • 8oz warm water • ½ tablespoon sugar • 1/8 teaspoon salt • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda Mix all together in a jar, stir well and refrigerate. Will keep for 2-3 days in fridge. Replace drinking water with this electrolyte solution. You may need to keep dripping it into his beak if he won't drink on his own.

But I take it that he isn't eating or drinking now? I would think that re-hydrating him would be a first priority now. Marianne he has got the antibiotics in his drinking water

If he doesn't have energy to move then he may not eat or drink on his own.

I will mix some Marianne. He had a little bit of millet before when I held it in front of him. How do I make him drink this ? I don’t want to try catching him. I am so upset wondering why he has got Ill, wondering if it’s something I have done……given him a bit too much millet or tonic seed…HE IS ONLY THREE.

Do you have any small plastic medicine cups you could try and get him to sip from, or a small spoon. Or put it on a leaf of spinach or basil and try and get him to sip that.
It's unlikely to be anything you have done that has made him ill. Sometimes budgies don't live very long. I had a budgie that was only two when he had a seizure and was completely paralysed. I had to have him put to sleep as he couldn't eat or drink. Up until that point he was really healthy and energetic.

That is good news. I hope it helps him. See if you can get him to take a sip once an hour until bedtime. Wonder if he doesn't like the taste of the antibiotics!

I actually tasted it to see if it was nasty and I couldn’t taste anything, but then I am not a budgie. He is back in the corner now head under wing asleep. We are just going out for a couple of hours but he is warm with a hot water bottle on top of his cage….. Time will tell. Thank you Marianne for your help, I really do appreciate it a lot.
