After a number of eggs cracked and fell to the bottom of the cage my daughter and I decided to incubate the rest of the eggs. It was a lot of work and few weeks later 3 eggs out of 5 hatched. Sadly they grew weaker each day and did not survive the first week. I am convinced they all died due to aspiration while hand feeding using a spoon. I have hand fed older (weeks old) finches before and did not expect this to be so difficult. Needless to say we are devastated by the sudden death especially all within 4-6 days. I have read this sticky post: budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/thread/3287/hand-feeding-budgie-chicksThe question I have is, is it a lot more difficult to feed newly hatched budgie chicks or there is something else we are doing wrong? I used a spoon and the chicks were kept in the incubator with 97F and 60% humidity. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
