I doubt anyone on this forum is going to pay £5,000 for a budgie even if it is a rare mutation.
But I am moving this to trading post.

It brings to mind a discussion we had going not too long ago about breeding for health along with color/appearance. I think most people on this forum would want a long lived budgie because they are pets not just for show. I would be heartbroken to pay that much for a budgie only to have it die shortly thereafter due to a congenital disease.

tweetiepiesmom this is a topic I certainly agree with you on, be it budgies or any other pet species. However it is a topic I must not get too involved in as I feel very strongly about it. A bit too strongly, to be perfectly honest!

Yes Marianne Marlow, that is the thread I was thinking about. loz we bring our pets into our home, fall in love with them and then are devastated to learn that our loved pet will not be with us for long due to a condition caused by poor breeding practices. I personally think it is fine to breed for a particular physical trait as long as overall health is part of the equation.
