I cleaned my phone photos so I've only got a few photos on it now. How Teal likes to sleep currently 😄 Doesn't that give you a pain in the neck? Sky (right) and Teal on the toy bowl. Blue (left) and Sky on Blue's cage door. It's an older photo she's about 8 months or so. This one won't be very clear they're up on their toy chain and zooming in blurs the photo, a bit annoying. Sky is in the middle.

Teal, "Is this my good side?" He walked up and stood like that as soon as he noticed the camera was showing.

When not squabbling over toys like kids, Blue and Teal get along pretty well. They've been in the cage that was originally Sky's, Teal is one of the budgies he's shared it with. It was sprayed down with vinegar a touch of washing liquid and power hosed and left in the sun. They've been in it for 3 nights. I managed a couple of photos just before they decided to nap.

Blue and Teal are very enthusiastic bathers. I know when Blue wants a bath because of her body language sometimes when I get fresh water in the water dish. They both like the water to be warm. Blue gets herself wet, where as Teal gets himself soaked, then he tries to fly, but he can't get height, this resulted in him crash landing onto my back, I reached my hand around, he stepped onto it then accepted a warm up cuddle and escort to the cage. Soggy Teal

I think Teal is the wettest budgie I've ever seen! How long did it take him to dry out?

I think Teal is the wettest budgie I've ever seen! How long did it take him to dry out? He took about an hour to dry. I closed the window and door to make sure there was no breeze, it was also just after midday so the warmer part of the day, as it's winter where I am. Blue loves a bath and she's over a year old now, Teal he's a few months old and has loved a bath since about 5 or 6 weeks old. I've got a photo I'll add it if I find it. I actually think he might be wetter than the pic above.
After his first bath. That yellow -ish stuff by his beak is formula I was able to clean it off better. It's the Veta Farm Neocare brand, so if I miss a bit and it dries it'll wash off when wet again.

Wonderful wet budgie photo! I love it when mine have a good splash about in the bath. Glad Teal had a great time!

Blue is showing her cheeky side... well, more than usual. Teal was lost in his feet picking up a claw in his beak and near falling over and did roll onto his side a couple of times, until Blue snuck up and bopped him on the head, he squicked at her and moved onto playing. Then Teal couldn't resist, Blue is up on a perch above him her tail in his path so he stretches up and gives it a preen and light tug, getting a squick out of Blue in protest.
I'm just sitting watching the entertainment.
I've never seen a budgie in such concentration of their toenails as Teal was.
They seem happy together. Blue is liking chewing the new bottlebrush perch, cage floor has a row of bark dust.
Feels empty without Sky. Though it feels like Teal is stepping into being a good and strong male. He actually surprised me, it was time to put them away and I asked him to come, so he flew Tomy hand and let me walk him to the cage and put him in stepping onto a perch. I felt so proud of him.

Blue and Teal on the window swing. I'd just told them "Time to go to cage." I think I'm getting the "Not yet Mum." look 😄 The horizontal hoop has a long cane like hook that hooks onto the curtain rod. I wrapped the wire with jute twine, took 4 hours and resulted in sore hands but it was worth it. On the end of the hook part I pushed/lightly hammered a pony bead as the wire for in the center snugly, so the twine can't slide off or come undone, and I tied a swing onto it, put some wooden pegs for chewing and perching. It's been the favorite spot for screaming at the nature birds once they learnt to fly and land 😆😄

Hello, Long time no chirp... I mean speak. It's been a while, I've been busy. I have 3 new members of my flock.I was only meant to keep one, but all of them stayed. I was asked if I could take care of 3 budgie chicks, the youngest was 1-2 days old the other 2 were 8-10 days old. I agreed to hand raise them. So on the 19th February the 3 little chicks arrived. I was nervous about raising the youngest chick Id never hand fed a budgie chick so small, I call them Peanut when they've just hatched. All 3 thrived and will be 3 months old in a few days. The youngest was slightly stunted, but right on 2 months old the little one had all their feathers, took a first flight and weaned. The older two were already flying and weaned, they had been for a couple of weeks. I think all 3 are females, their Mother is a pied, also a former chick I hand raised about 3 years ago. Here's some pictures. I didn't get any pics of when they wer really young. Youngest chick just after a feeding. The older siblings. A photo I took today of my flock of four. This photo is taken without a flash, as I'm thinking the new 3 budgies are female but I'm not sure as one is clearly pied the other 2 aren't but it's in their genes. From left: Dot the youngest, Boo (Bossy Boo), Zen and Teal( he turned 1 yo end of Feb) I was only going to keep Dot, but Boo and Zen would preen her and cuddle her between them at night they were helping care for her, and worried Dot would get distressed if they left, so I ended up keeping them all. If any one recalls Blue my turquoise girl, she's pictured in the first post. I sadly lost her. She fell ill suddenly, and passed away in my hands the morning of the 24th April. Teal was so sad losing his cage mate, she was cheeky to him daily. It's only the last few days he's become his chirping self playing with his favorite toy and chatting away to himself. I think the lil Cutie Pie trio have cheered him up. Though now he has 3 cheeky females to deal with ha ha. I've kept Teal in a cage to himself, I didn't want him getting stressed. Nor did I want any of them getting "hormonal" and possibly territorial. I feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in raising Dot from 1-2 days old. She looks like her Mother even with the little "birthmark" trait of a yellow bow shaped patch in the black stripes on the back of the head. Hopefully the pictures worked, if they didn't I'll fix them as soon as I can. I also added a photo of the new flock to my first post.
