I don’t see any reason why it would not be able to be used, but it is a slightly stronger solution to the one I use, and was recommended to me by the vet. I use 2.5% (25mg/ml ). As a preventative all you need is one drop into around a cup of water. If you have multiple water containers you would want to add the iodine to the bulk of the water and then divide it up, rather than adding a drop to each container as that would be too strong and run the risk of overdosing. Hyperthyroidism can be as much of a problem as hypothyroidism.
I would look for the lesser strength iodine, should be able to get it from a pharmacy, sometimes called iodine tincture. Forgot to add that a weekly dose is enough to keep their levels up.

I use this 1. 1 drop in 500ml of water, given in the water bottle twice a week. The advice came from an avian vet in the UK Budgerigar Club.

What is the concentration of the iodine you use, starrymist? That is important as you can overdose a bird. EDIT: The image must have been loading while I was typing. That sounds good. 👍
