Hi all, Yesterday, I was watching Neighbours* on my tablet, and Biscuit was on my hand chatting to it as usual. He's 12 now, but still really energetic and chatty. I've been out of work for a bit so I get to spend most of the day with him, and he's become really attached to me and always wanting to play and chat.
So he was there chatting to my hand when he starts mating with it. I was like, what the heck, Biscuit, I'm your mum! And got him off. There was a spot of blood on my index finger, and I thought maybe he'd bitten me, though I couldn't see a bite mark.
Now today, he did the same thing. And so I stopped him, and there was another spot of blood but this time on my ring finger, so it must have been from him.
Why is he trying to mate? He did used to try to mate with his brother when they were still juveniles, but that was it, and he's always been chatty and frisky, but he's way past breeding age, why is he behaving like this now? He's never done this before. Is the blood normal? Boyee was lusty, but he had a mate and I don't remember him bleeding during his lusty times.
I'll have to be really careful to stop Biscuit's chatting before it goes too far now.
Anyone else have this happen with their bird?
*Don't judge me lol. I know it's trash, I just watch it to complain about how trash it is.

I had a budgie called Hector a while ago (he passed in 2019) and when he would "get frisky" it would sometimes leave a bit of blood behind in his later years (he died when he was almost 11). I don't know why it happened, I assumed it was over-enthusiasm, but maybe I should have had it looked into.

Oh that's a relief to hear, Marianne. Biscuit's always been frisky, but it never went further than like I showed in his video thread. I'm just being careful now to stop it before he gets that excited.
