So we had the new 4 month old Baby blue budgie for 14 days now and each day i talk to it and practice step up on my finger. But we also have the green female budgie that is 2 years and i can only get the baby to sit on my finger if the green budgie sits on my finger first.
And as soon the green budgie wants to fly away from me, then the baby follows instant. I managed to have em both sit on each hand where they looked calm and was preening feathers while looking sleepy.
It just looks like the baby blue budgie is scared and dosent want to be inside its cage.
But today i managed to put both the green budgie inside its cage from my hand with the baby. Then they where insid ethe cage few hours relaxing. So that went well.
But i feel the baby still is scared and has no rest when it finaly sits on my finger. Im trying to talk calm to it and it seems to help.
Both budgies gets along fine but taming a new budgie in company of others budgies seems like hard mode.
Also the green budgie likes to preen me around my eyes and the baby also wants to do that. But it dosent know how to be gentle like the green is, so it chews so hard it hurts. Im sure it was chewing on a bit of skin from my eyelid.
How do i improve my taming for this wild and scared baby budgie ?
Our green budgie is so clever it jumps inside its cage several times to rest or eat. Also when my mothers says its night time or sleepy time then within 5 minutes it jumps inside the cage ready to sleep. If only the baby could learn that. It litterly sits next to the green budgie and watches it jump inside the cage. But looks very confused about that concept.

The young bird is still learning that humans aren’t always a predator, so it has the right to be wary while taking tips from the older bird as to what is safe to do. Allow your older bird to guide the younger one and trust will gradually begin to form. This is how the young of almost all species learns - from the older members of the group.

Ok thanks that sounds great While the baby still is scared it also want to do exactly the same thing what the green does. It see the green budgie preen my face and then it stretch its neck cuz it also want to preen my face but it chews my face to the bone I hope it learns to be gentle like the green is. Also the baby has very fast movements. Like when it eats or preens it self or shakes, then it happens very fast. Like it was a time contest. Its also very sure on its landing compared to the green that is a bit clumsy. I noticed when the baby sits on my finger then its feets is right next to each other but the green budgie has its feets more spread on my finger. It just looks strange.
