Hi all i’ve recently added two exhibition budgies to my flock and love em. Such great little characters and sweet voices compared to my raucous bunch. I mainly have ammies, macaws and ringnecks.

Thanks. Yup Ammie means Amazon. Noise is pretty intense sometimes - especially first thing in the morning and the hour leading up to dusk - the jungle times! The budgies by comparison are a very welcome sweet melodic thing I bet when they gang up in groups of ten or more they can be very noisy though.

I don't know much about Macaws apart from them being amazing and majestic when they fly.
What sort of noise do they make? do they sing?

Strange - my reply went missing…… maybe i didnt hit the right button Well there is Ruby , my Greenwing, they are the second largest parrot. She has an extremely loud scream but most of the time not too shrill and not too frequent. (Most days!) she doesnt really sing but she likes to quack and mumble a lot, often for 20-30 mins at a time. She is a bit lazy with words, only bothering with a few so far. But then they are slow to mature, reaching maturity as 6. Ruby is 3 so still a very playful baby. Peanut is my Hahn’s which is the tiniest Macaw. She weights about 150g, (is that like 3 budgies?) Ruby 1300g. She never shuts up. She is constantly singing and babbles away constantly, she knows quite a few words and often will say a new word straight back to me. She has quite a nasty alarm call which is pretty unpleasant (think high pitched seagull) but this is only when she is freaked out by something.

Budgies are the only parrot I know that are actually pleasant to listen to, although they do have their squawking moments as well. The galah has a tinkly bell sound that is lovely but then they ruin it with the typical parrot screech.
