Sorry I haven’t been about much over the summer everyone. I haven’t been too well and on top of the stress of the kitchen being done (still not finished!) and the bradycardia I suffered, a test led to a biopsy, which led to a bit of surgery and so I’m waiting for the results from the lab as to whether I need further procedures/surgery. 🙄
BUT…as I take it easy and recover, I thought I’d give you all something to look forward to should you wish to have a forum calendar this year and it’ll help to keep me busy and out of trouble.
Some of you may recall I offered to take the job on from Sam and so I’m going to spend the next few weeks researching and finding the best value calendar and thought perhaps you’d all like to start picking out favourite photos of your gorgeous birds or maybe you want to try and get some good ones now while we have a lot of daylight (if in the Southern Hemisphere).
The following information comes courtesy of Sam who did an excellent job in creating the calendars previously, so as she explains everything so well, I’d be stupid not to copy and paste her examples and rules.
Things you need to consider before submitting your pictures for consideration.
Your pictures must ideally be:
1. Landscape
2. Not resized (so in original size when taken)
3. Of good quality (not fuzzy or blurry) unless you have a budgie in the background and a clear budgie in the foreground
Good example:
Clear ✓ Landscape ✓ Original Size ✓
Bad Example:
Clear X Landscape X Original Size X
4. Multiple budgies are welcome, including aviaries (but they still must be clear shots)
5. Only 1 photo per member will be chosen unless not enough members contribute to the 12 months and it will be put to a vote
6. You can enter up to 3 pictures but only 1 will be chosen (name(s) with each picture please)
7. Old or new photos welcome and past budgies are also accepted
8. Sorry but only long standing members can contribute
Closing date for entries is approximately END OF OCTOBER 2022 (this is to allow for overseas postage)

I loved this year’s slim calendar, so unless anyone has any objections, I thought I’d go for another slimline. If you would prefer another style let me know and we can have a vote.
Usually the price of the calendar is approximately (including postage) in the region of £13.00GBP (as per the 2022 calendar and I believe that was at a reduced price). As everything else seems to have spiralled in cost, until I start researching I won’t know what sort of figure we will be looking at. If this is a concern let me know, perhaps with an idea of how much you’re willing to spend and I will do my best to work within the limit and again, if it is going to be more expensive than in previous years we can always cast another vote. This is our forum calendar and so we can all work together to ensure everyone is happy.
Costs to other countries may be higher for postage. (If you PM me once I’ve created the new thread to let you know you can begin submitting your photos, which I’ll do next month, I can get a quote for you.)
I will of course confirm final details of how much they will be.
Finally, as a rule of thumb, we do like members who have supplied a picture to buy one…but all are welcome to buy even if they haven't provided a picture.
Hope that all makes sense!
Enjoy the rest of the summer and I hope no one melts as we suffer yet another heatwave in the U.K.
Get snapping (photos that is, not in a temper due to the temperatures making us all snappy)!
I’ll start a new thread for you to submit your photos within next month. Am really looking forward to seeing them!
