Hope everyone is coping with ok the weather this weekend. We are curtains closed and blinds down, with a few fans going,"trying" to cool off a bit. The buds at the mo seem to be doing ok in the aviary gave them a quick spray with the hose earlier am sure they appreciated it

Reduced activity and extra naps here.
Same with the budgies š
The birbs seem to have twigged going in the kitchen in the afternoon and staying in the lounge in the morning - the opposite of what the sunshine does. Clever birbs!
Fan in full use in the lounge. I ought to get a second one, really.

Same as you Steve, windows, blinds and curtains all closed around 2pm, it certainly helps....A bit š
Boys are loving being out in the good weather though, umbrella āļø up for them when it gets a bit too hot.
Hope everyone staying safe.

Flurry of activity from the birbs earlier when it was slightly cooler. They've chilled out a bit now, thankfully and are being sensible. They will be so happy when we lose about 5C off of the thermometer reading! They're being very noisy now and Chocobo is attempting to tunnel underneath the fireplace hearth stone. A normal day š

Dexter isn't bothered by the hot weather, unlike the humans in the house. So glad it will be cooler here tomorrow as it's been too many hot days in a row. We've been up early every morning to visit our allotment before it gets too hot and home again by 10am with all windows and curtains closed. It feels like being under seige.

The cheerful idiots here are on a flying jag. Just the budgies.
As I typed that, Herman dropped behind the TV. I've checked, he's fine and flying about again but he did look very bewildered for half a minute.
They've stopped now and appear to be trying to cool off. Chocobo was commenting throughout and calling the budgies all kinds of names.

Iām meltingā¦ Canāt believe I used to love summers on the beach or relaxing in the garden once upon a time. Curtains and blinds also closed here. Dogs have cooling bandanas, frozen treats to encourage extra hydration to the water always provided and are getting sneaky bites of watermelon as I have been slicing some up and leaving in a bowl in the fridge each day for anyone to grab at any time. The dogs have a pool too but they loathe it so with water levels the way they are we havenāt bothered to get it out this heatwave. Buds are coping well and had great fun splashing in their bath today. It was a full-on budgie pool party! Tortoises dig down and hide under their hebes and other areas providing shade. Contrary to belief they donāt really like it this hot. They have baths 4 times a week plus have large pool areas in their enclosures. I dread heatwaves and this summer has been a bit of a nightmare with a lot going on. Ideally, for me, Iād have 4 months of spring, 4 months of Autumn and 4 months of winter and go without the summer!

It feels a degree or so cooler today, indoors. A fair bit fresher outside.
I don't mind the heat but I've been concerned for Mr Hibs. He's the first to have his wings out and yesterday he was opening his beak, too. I had him sat on my finger a number of times, blowing on his tummy, of which he seemed a little uncertain but he didn't fly away to escape. Perhaps he appreciated it. I wish the numpties would take advantage of the bath I provide but only Chocobo does that.
