Usually, if Perry has a seizure or seizures, I stay up late in case he has more. This has been happening more often, to the extent I am bracing myself each evening...
But tonight, when I checked them at 11pm, there was blood all over the place. Lennie. Feather. So much cornflour. He's currently in a little travel cage. I think bleeding has stopped but I'm leaving him in there a little longer to make sure (it's easier to grab him & apply cornflour again rather than if he's in big cage with Perry.
Not even sure where the wound is. A tail feather fell out but I can see lumps of blood on remaining feathers, almost like it's running down them.
So, even after I put him back in with Perry, I'll be up to keep checking he doesn't reactivate it...

What a worry. Maybe a feather was coming out anyway and he caught it on something. I hope he’s ok and you get some sleep

Then he lost the new one growing in a couple of days ago & tonight, the remaining one. So, he definitely shouldn't have lost them. He's has feather problems in the past though. Anyway, it's almost 3am & no sign of further blood loss so the cornflour appears to be holding up for now. I'll see if I can get a couple of hours sleep....

Poor Lennie. What a worry and lack of sleep makes it so much worse.
I hope things turn around soon and you & Lennie can get back to normal.

It is hard when all you can do is be the support vehicle. Hopefully Lennie has stabilised and his feathers stay put for the next little while. Mine have moulted enough feathers to make another couple of budgies, I feel, and Spyro in particular was looking particularly rough. No problems with knocks and bleeding though, thankfully. Spyro looking decidedly scrappy.

Thank you, tweetiepiesmom, loz, Hezz & jellybean. We made it through the night. When I checked at 5am, there was evidence Perry had had a seizure. He was on the lower perch attempting to get back up & there were poops on the floor under the platform perch. I left some millet in overnight which they (or one of them) has had for breakfast. They are still covered over but I'll get them up shortly. Honestly, when I went to bed last night I felt like throwing up with the trauma of it all. I tried to count how many times I put the cornflour on & it might have been 8 times... to stop the bleeding. I feel like sitting in a darkened room! EDIT: And being Sunday, there is no chance of him seeing a decent vet to be checked over.

I was blessed with being allowed to give him a great scratching this morning. 💗

I'm sorry to hear that Lennie broke a blood feather and Perry had another seizure. I hope for better health and luck for you all today.

Things always seem to happen Saturday night and no vet available for 36 hours minimum. Hope today is calmer and you all get a chance to recover, sweetpea

I feel for you sweetpea, to me there is nothing worse than the worry and stress you feel when an animal is sick or injured. Sometimes it's the not knowing what to do, but doing the best we can. I hope you're resting up today and taking it easy, and hope tonight is a better night for you all xxx
