Hello, my name is Shanna and this is my baby Marshmallow. I thought he was a boy, but I'm doubting myself. Any thoughts on gender. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The pics posted are the same pic in natural lighting just one is abit lighter than the other.

Possibly a girl, but would need a less fuzzy photo.

Agree, likely to be a hen, but try for a front facing photo rather than from the side. In focus is important as well.

I think you have a girl….what do other members think? I'm sorry I had no idea I had a response and had a tragedy in my family. Here are some newer photos. I've had Marshmallow for a little over a year and got from petco as a "problem bird" because he/she doesn't like to be handled. I also tried very hard to get a front facing pic but Marshmallow does not like cameras or anything strange.

I'm very sorry to hear about your family tragedy. Best wishes to you all. Your budgie looks like a recessive pied, which puts a spanner in the works as the later photos look male to me

Marshmallow looks very sweet. Some budgies just take longer to warm up to humans - I have one like that! Just spend as much time around him/her, talking, making soft noises and move your hand slowly.

Your budgie looks like a recessive pied, which puts a spanner in the works as the later photos look male to me Thank you so much. We lost my 10 year old budgie Tango almost 2 weeks ago. Normally I would wait awhile to get another bird but Marshmallow has been escaping his/her cage and has injured a wing already. I've had to net the cage. I can only conclude that he/she is looking for Tango because Marshmallow has never left the cage before unless Tango has. photos of beautiful Tango.

Aww. The little budgies do grieve when their companion dies. My two stress out so much if I separate them to take one to the vet. Its so bad that the vet suggested I bring them both in and she'd only treat the sick one. Hope Marshmallow recovers soon.
