Hey everyone, So I have previously owned budgies. I haven't had one now for nine years and the time has come for me to become a budgie Mum again. I'm in preparation stages at the minute. I know what I need and I'm slowly getting it all together. I was wondering though if anyone could reccomend a good book? I used to have a few and over the years they've got lost. I'd love to find another good one that my 9 year old can learn from before we bring a feathered friend home. The old breeders I used previously don't seem to be active anymore either. I'd have gladly bought one from either of those gentlemen as both birds I gained from them were fantastic. I'm a bit rusty on what I need to look out for when I visit new ones I can find locally. I've found one in Leeds from the BSociety list so he will be my first port of call but if anyone knows of any near Halifax please do let me know

I don’t know of any books that are up to date enough to be relevant but there is a lot of good info in the pinned threads on this forum. We are a family oriented forum, so no bad language is allowed and generally we are a fairly well behaved bunched. Your nine-year-old and yourself should feel safe, and free to ask any questions they may come up with; it’s the people who don’t ask questions who run into trouble. Some of our UK members may be able to point you in the direction of a tried and tested breeder. Good luck with your budgie acquisition.

Welcome to the forum clow1988. The knowledgeable forum members on here are better than any book I could ever buy. As Hezz has mentioned, have a look through the different sections, I'm sure you will pick up so much from there. But, please don't hesitate if you have any questions, members are very helpful and will be more than happy to help with any advice you need. Good luck in your quest for a new little bird. Look forward to updates.

I was actually on the forum about 10 years ago.. when I had my first budge as an Adult "Boris" it's been nostalgic coming back, recognizing members names and re reading some of the stickys on threads to be honest and got me very excited for becoming a budge Mum again.. I'll be sure to update you all in the new year x
