I put him on his perch and offered him some millet and he stepped on my hand to eat it. I have now put him back on the bottom of cage where he can get at his seed and waterβ¦β¦he is fast asleep nowβ¦β¦he must be very tired for a six week baby. I will cover him up early tonight and I think he will be more lively tomorrow. He has done really well for day one though ππ»ππ»

They tire quickly when they are young. The day after I introduced 12-week-old Finarfin to the Flock, he slept in until mid-morning! Gotcha Day is always exhausting, especially for the babies.

Thank you everyone. Today went well. Herbie has settled in well and already accepts millet from my hand and even sat on it. He has been quiet but only to be expected. I covered him over for bed and that scared him a bit but he finally settled on the top perch in the cage.

Mr Hibs used to strike at the cover when I pulled it over his cage when he was young. Nasty little temper! So funny!

loz, Buddy did the same thing. I'd cover him and he'd grab the cover through the cage bars and pull. Once he got in the big cage with Tweetie Pie, he stopped.

Good morning from Herbie. When I uncovered him he was still sitting at the top of the cage where he went last night. I asked him to step on my hand and he did. I put him on the bottom of tha cage where his food is and he ate a bit of foodβ¦..then went up the ladder and just sat on the perch. He is still frightened of moving around the cage but not really frightened of meβ¦..I do not want to start lifting the food up to him so hopefully he will soon get more adventurous and find it himself.

Bless him. Heβll be fine in a few days. Max wouldnβt move at all initially.
I think I moved food after a few days. I know I held water on a spoon for him as he was used to a different tube to what I had
