Even if he doesn't talk and isn't a mummy's boy now. His personality could change a lot as he grows up and learns to trust you.

Good little baby! Sounds like he really wanted some exercise. Once he's been out flying a few times, he'll learn how to get back to his cage and where to land in the room. Those little budgies do fly fast!

Gosh he is gorgeous! That little face sat in the doorway, and crash landing on your husband. He may not seem keen on hands yet but it's all learning for him. He landed on a person and nothing scary happened. Maybe hands should always come with millet for a few days?
I hope tomorrow goes well too.

I think it’s too early to know if he talks or not and if he’ll be a mummy’s boy.
I had Bailey over a month before he’d come out the cage. Took about 5/6 months before he spoke and he had amazing vocabulary when he did.
Max was out the cage fairly quickly and was definitely trying to form words at 5 months.
But as he landed on hubby, he knows it’s safe now etc.
I reckon he’ll surprise you.
Such beautiful colouring

Aww! I love him, he's such a cutie! I love when they get the zoomies and start flying around madly. Munchy used to time it for when my grandparents were trying to have a nap, and he'd squawk like mad as he flew. This lot, it's mainly Indie, Gwen and Aster, the three spitfires, and they'll set each other off, so all of a sudden we have three firebolts zooming around the room! I agree that it's too early to say about the talking. He's very new and hasn't had time to hear the standard 'flock noises' much yet!

Herbie is just utterly adorable. I love his little monkey face. He is so young and still in new and unfamiliar surroundings. I think he’s going to be just fine. So lovely to read through this thread and I hope this little guy helps to heal the piece missing in your life. He’ll never be a Charlie-shaped piece as he has his own personality to shine through and you’ll soon adore him just as much. I’m really interested to see if he becomes a proficient swearer!

The very loud chirp is him calling for his previous flock. It should settle as he does but he may keep it - 12 months later and Bunji is still the noisiest budgie I have ever heard. Add the other two or three and the room is deafening to be in.

How's he getting on now? Lovely little Herb.. he's a gorgeous little fella. It's hard because you've so recently lost one. We idealise and forget all the work and time that goes into our earlier budgies I think... He will get there he just isn't as bold as your Charlie was so needs all the more time and love that you've got to give.
