Hello everyone, firstly apologies for my absence over the last few months, betcha all missed me….no need to answer that ! I have posted a photo of Sam and Olly when they had a rare fly around my living room. They are still not trained, I know I know but in my defence it is hard to train a budgie when you have a tremor and your hand wobbling makes them less than happy to land on it 😁, but Sam found the settee and I put Olly on there so they both felt safe.
They are both well although we have had a couple of visits to the vet, one for mite treatment and another for Sam’s back claws as they grow at an angle and needed cutting.
They are both fussy about fresh food and fruit is still a no go but I keep trying new things in the hope they will love them as much as they do parsley and cress, which Olly is currently eating and Sam tastes then goes back to later.
My question is about Chilli, I don’t use them and have no idea of the best one to give the boys…red, green, mild, hot etc. Many thanks in advance !
Oooh forgot to say isn’t Karen at the Natural Bird Company lovely, she has been supplying the boys with toys and me with the gubbins to make things for the boys over the last few months and she and Darran are amazing !

Any chilli is okay for the budgies; they don’t have the heat receptors on their tongue that we have so the heat factor is not a factor. But for your own sake, if you are as clumsy as myself, you might want to go for the milder ones just so you don’t give yourself a nasty touch-up. You might find that they are more receptive to consider green as a food source rather than the red. A lot of budgies do find red food to be a step too far.

Yes Hezz. I still remember the time I tried to murder my budgies with a strawberry. But don't worry, they did not go near it. You can't outwit them.

Thank you both, I will buy a green chilli on Saturday! The boys didn’t like strawberries either, one of them sort of licked it then went back to perch in disgust !
